Fetish wear and much more specifically bondage pants or fetish trousers are pants with large zippers, straps, chains, rings and buckles, giving a look and feel of a bondage style. These come in a variety of sizes, patterns and colors. One of the most common patterns is tartan. They also come in a variety of styles, including tight or baggy, long, short or Capri. Fetish wear, like bondage pants have mainly been worn by people in youth subcultures, including punks, rocks, ravers, goths and Indies. Although some people consider these bondage pants just as one element of true fetish wear, many early punks have said the origins of these pants were from homeless people who put straps on his or her pants so they could retain a train. Their popularity has risen when Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren presented them from the 70s punk subculture. These fetish pants are offered by several retailers, including Adultsmart. Several clothing companies produce various versions with all the baggy version of bondage trousers for both men and women being the encouraged. Men's bondage pants variety appears to feature more choices with baggier legs, larger pockets and much more metal details such as chains, skulls, mock handcuffs and d rings while the women's styles are often more tailored and have less metal hardware decoration than the men's styles. Women's versions also may have details of lace, ribbon or Tartan, making them look more feminine. The harder popular of the bondage pants looks like it's the original black style, with white stitching, although different colored versions including white, hot pink, green and blue have been made with several other colors of stitching or even the same.

There has been some debate in the usa regarding bondage pants. At certain schools in the usa they perceive this fetish wear like a danger to school property in addition to a way that promotes sexual inappropriateness, even to the extent of banning the bondage pants. The pants first appeared in British slums, worn with the homeless, but Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood mass made them for boutiques, which sold punk and fetish wear. These original bondage pants were usually plain or tartan, and were a looser-fit version. They had zippers on the thighs and calves from the back of each pant leg, and a strap that you could adjust with buckles somewhat below the knee. Additionally, they came with bum flaps. They become popular when worn by bands like the Clash and The Sex Pistols. Their popularity was emerged in the 80s, and pants had more straps and bigger zippers and d rings. They also became popular in black and red colors, while some others feature each leg to be of different color. Today, bondage pants are identified not simply with fans from the punk subculture, but also with Goths, Nu Metal, and fetish wear fanatics. Bondage and Discipline
